How can we help?

Currency handling for stock transactions

How does Syfe handle different currencies for trading on HKEX, SGX, and US exchanges?

Syfe uses local currency balances first for transactions on each exchange. If the local balance is insufficient, we will automatically convert from other currencies in a predefined priority order for each exchange.

Currency Priority by Exchange

Exchange Primary Currency Secondary Currency Tertiary Currency
US Stocks USD SGD HKD
HKEX Stocks HKD SGD USD
SGX Stocks SGD USD HKD

What happens if my primary currency balance is insufficient for a trade?

We will automatically use the next currency in the priority list, converting funds as needed. This process is seamless and requires no manual action.

Can I manually convert currencies on the platform?

Yes, you can directly convert between USD, SGD, and HKD anytime to manage your balances and currency exposure. Find out how to do so here.

Handling funds for pending orders

  • Buy Limit Orders: Total amount required (including fees) is temporarily withheld from buying power, following the currency priority.
  • Sell Limit Orders: Estimated fees are withheld from buying power to ensure smooth execution.

Note: Withheld amounts are released back if an order is canceled before execution.
