How can we help?

What is 24/5 US Overnight Trading on Syfe?

24/5 US Overnight Trading

24/5 US Overnight Trading on Syfe is the ability to place orders in eligible US stocks and ETFs continuously from Sunday evening 8:00 pm ET to Friday evening 8:00 pm ET. This includes regular hours (9:30 am – 4:00 pm ET), pre‑market and post‑market hours, and an overnight session. This means Syfe clients can trade during Asian and European business hours.

How can I benefit from 24/5 trading?

It helps you to respond instantly to earnings releases and company news that break outside regular US hours, without waiting for the next trading day and potentially facing unfavourable price gaps. If you’re based in Singapore and Asia, 24/5 trading allows you to trade during your local time zone hours

How do I enable and use 24/5 US Overnight Trading on Syfe, and what are the charges?

24/5 trading is enabled for all Syfe users - no separate activation is needed.

How to use: Select an eligible US stock or ETF in the Syfe app during any available session (regular hours, pre-market and post-market hours, or overnight session), choose a limit order with GTD (Good-Till-Date) duration, and submit. The platform automatically routes your order to the venue based on the time of day.

Charges: Fees remain identical to standard US securities orders - free if you have available free trades in your plan, otherwise it’ll be charged based on your standard tiered pricing. There are no additional overnight premiums. Check your available free trades and tier rates in the app's account or pricing section.

How do order timings and sessions work on Syfe?

On Syfe, US orders can be routed to work across overnight and regular sessions based on the time you place them and the order type you select. Overnight trading typically covers the late US evening to early morning ET, while regular trading remains 9:30 am – 4:00 pm ET, and Syfe’s order handling follows the venue’s cut‑offs and trade‑date rules (e.g., trades received after 8:00 pm ET may get the next trade date).

Are prices and liquidity different during overnight trading on Syfe?

Yes, during this time, bid-ask spreads can be wider and available liquidity is lower due to fewer active participants. Syfe helps you manage this by supporting limit orders for price control and routing to venues that specialise in overnight liquidity for US stocks and ETFs.

What happens in the case of a holiday or half day?

Half days (e.g., day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve): Only the regular trading session is shortened (closing at 1:00 pm ET instead of 4:00 pm ET). The overnight session (8:00 pm – 4:00 am ET) runs on its regular schedule since it is hosted in separate venues.

Full holidays (e.g., New Year's Day, Thanksgiving): Both regular and overnight sessions are closed - no trading is available.

Syfe automatically adjusts order routing based on each venue's schedule.

What risks should I be aware of before using 24/5 trading?

Overnight sessions have higher volatility, wider spreads, and lower liquidity - you may get partial fills or less favourable prices than during regular hours. Always use limit orders to control your execution price and size positions conservatively.
