How can we help?

What is a Syfe Joint Account and how does it work?

Syfe joint account and its benefits

A Syfe joint account allows 2 people to manage their investments together from one platform.

Here's what you get with a joint account:

  • Pooled investments - combine your resources with family to grow your shared wealth.
  • One platform for everything - manage your individual and joint investments side by side, all in one place
  • Easy access - your joint account is accessible straight from your existing Syfe account, no separate login needed
  • Equal ownership - both account holders share equal ownership of the investments in the joint account

Who is eligible to open a joint account?

To open a joint account, both individuals need to meet the following:

  • Both must be at least 18 years old. Joint accounts with minors aren't supported just yet.
  • Both must share one of these relationships:
    • Spouses
    • Parent and child
    • Grandparent and grandchild
    • Siblings
  • Both must have their own Syfe accounts.

How many joint accounts can I have?

You can have up to 5 accounts at any one time. This does not include your personal account.

How many people can access one joint account?

Each joint account can be held only by 2 people.

How are joint accounts structured?

Joint accounts at Syfe are structured as joint-alternate accounts — meaning either of you has full access to manage the account, including making deposits and withdrawals.

Both of you have equal control, so either holder can place trades, transfer funds, or update account settings at any time.

If we ever receive instructions from both of you that appear to conflict, we'll pause and check in with both holders before proceeding.

Can I perform internal transfers from my individual account to my joint account (& vice versa)?

Internal transfers between individual and joint accounts are not supported at the moment.

In the meantime, here's what you can do:

  • Within your joint account — move funds between portfolios using internal transfer.
  • Across accounts — withdraw to your bank account and deposit into the other account from there.

Is my joint account eligible for Accredited Investor products?

Yes, your joint account is eligible for Accredited Investors (AIs) once both joint holders are individually verified as Accredited Investors. If only one holder is currently verified as an AI:

  • That holder can still access AI portfolios through their own personal Syfe account

  • The other holder can complete AI verification through their personal account at any time. Once both holders are verified, your joint account becomes eligible too.
